Exit launches music contest
The EXIT Festival is this year again opening its doors to all interested solo artists, bands and DJ’s the world over. This is a chance and opportunity for all performers to showcase their efforts and creativity on one of the festival’s stages and to display their talent across the internet via the new EXIT MUSIC portal.
Entering into the contest is free and the deadline for entries is 20th May 2008.
A five-member jury will choose 20 artists/bands that will perform on a number of the festival’s stages while visitors to the site will choose four of their favourites.
EXIT Music is an online space that serves all bands who wish to perform at the Exit Festival to present themselves, create their own pages where they can display band photos, biographies, performance announcements and their audio and video recordings. EXIT Music will not only be a place where you can enter into the contest to perform at Exit, but also a path which will expose you to many other people who have not had the opportunity to hear your music.
Artists who wish to perform at Exit always outnumber the spaces available in the four-day line-up, and in-between two festivals a long time goes by without much news about the activities of numerous artists and DJ’s who enter into the contest every year. The Exit Music portal is a place where, throughout the entire year, artists can be active, post news about their performances, inform others of their own activities and be informed of the activities of other artists during the year.

Exit Festival launches "Get Out To Vote" Campaign
EXIT initiated the “Get Out To Vote Campaign” after analysis of the first round presidential elections on 20th January, showed a high percentage of abstinence among young voters. The campaign is called "No kidding!" and took place in three major Serbian cities - Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis leading up to the second round of votes held on 3rd February.
On Sunday evening after the elections, big parties were held in the three cities and entrance was only permitted only to those whose finger shone under the backlight. This is because Serbian law requires every voter to be marked by special spray on his finger in order to prevent fraud.
EXIT have done many GOTV campaigns since the beginning because they feel strongly young people need to shape their own future. From research with the festival audience during the last few years – they found that half of them were not voting at all. Many young people are disappointed and cynical - they don't believe that elections can really influence their lives, so they don't vote. And because they don't vote, elections are really not influencing their lives.
It's a vicious circle and what EXIT tried to do with this campaign is to say "you can make the changes, but only way to do it to participate!" First, they used the EXIT brand as symbol of positive change. EXIT is one of the most prestigious festivals in Europe and the organisers are just ordinary young people like anyone else in Serbia. Secondly, they choose the powerful slogan "Nema zezanja" ("No kidding"). Posters were printed with the words "No kidding on Sunday” to announce the elections and “No kidding - best fun this winter!" to announce the party on Sunday evening. Thirdly EXIT had the shiny finger mark to use as an entry pass.
“Reactions were excellent and the parties were well attended.” Enthuses Exit’s Rajko Bozic. “We are currently waiting to receive the voting data to see how successful the campaign was, but we are confident that the percentage of young voters was significantly higher.”
Exit Festival 2008 will take place from 10 - 13 July at the Petrovaradin Fortress, Novi Sad, Serbia.
